Latest Updates from Our Project:

Meet the Minis!
about 1 month ago – Mon, Jan 20, 2025 at 02:26:06 PM

Many of the bag designs are pretty big, which isn't terribly common for plush bags! There is still a lot of uses for smaller bags though. So I took 3 of my ideas that would have been pretty silly at a larger size dangling from a strap and made them in to mini bags!

There's a raw t-bone steak, a salmon cross section, and an egg. I actually took my first shot at these designs while I was on the plane flying to Megaplex '24. I hope my neighbor wasn't too upset that I was doodling raw meat the entire flight.

The mini bags will have several loops on the back instead of a strap to carry it with, and they're intended to allow you to loop a belt or lanyard through. Think fanny pack but with more ways to wear it. You could also add your own strap to make them a cross body or shoulder bag. A smaller size means a smaller price tag too! These won't be terribly huge since they're meant to be lightweight, but they'll still be able to fit smaller pocket items like standard phones, wallets, cards, and keys.

All that is left to reveal are the various add-ons and extra rewards for the campaign, so stay tuned for those! I'm doing some 11th hour tweaking of some designs right now, but they're getting there. See you then!

2-Bone Meat and Haunch Bag Prototypes!
about 1 month ago – Sun, Jan 19, 2025 at 02:48:15 PM

I got prototypes of the first 4 goals for the campaign and they are looking great! Since these are the first 4 designs that are possible to unlock in the campaign I was really excited to share them.

Meet the nearly completed Neon Dinosaur and Zebra Bags

The Neon Dinosaur bags are perfect and ready to go. The Zebra bags need their zippers changed to white and a small color correction on the front haunch bone, but other than that they're also good to go! Neon Dino 2-Bone is definitely my favorite, I've been using the grilled variety but will probably swap to that if the campaign is funded.

By the way, grilled variety bags will be available from the start of the campaign!

If you back for a haunch bag and one of the two above don't get unlocked you will still get to receive a bag! Grilled will also remain an option no matter how many bags unlock. This design is not only funded out of pocket, it is already in production!

We are SO CLOSE to launch now! Sorry that this is another shorter one. I'm kind of running out of behind-the-scenes stuff to share! Pretty soon I will be sharing the final design sheets and the early backer + returning backer rewards, so stay tuned! There's some meatier updates that have been posted already too if you're hungry for more without the wait🍖

See you soon!

Behind the Scenes - Premium Cuts Design Sheets
about 1 month ago – Tue, Jan 14, 2025 at 09:18:04 AM

Almost all the premium cut bags have entered prototyping! Making plush design sheets is a bit of a tedious task with lots of drawing/coloring the same thing from different angles, labeling everything, and breaking them in to more complex and specific sheets and files afterward. I thought y'all might appreciate a peek at the process!

This is one of the earliest steps, but there's already a lot of time spent. The more angles drawn and the more accurate and detailed your notes, the fewer iterations are needed to make the perfect prototype... within reason! Some designs are just going to take a lot of time no matter what! Especially designs where it's best to talk with more than one manufacturer to get the best results, like the Royal Chow. That adds to the time spent overall, and can double your prototyping costs. Often more, especially when you consider air shipping of one prototype alone is usually $50+!

That's all I have for you today, but I'll be revealing some prototypes and new designs soon, so stay tuned! Also remember to vote for your favorite design!

Chopping Block - Bags that didn't make the cut
about 1 month ago – Mon, Jan 13, 2025 at 11:31:56 AM

Not long 'til launch!! I'm super excited and have been working hard on making sure everything is set up to go as smoothly as possible. I can take a lil break to share some stuff with you though. Remember the sketches from the last update? Well, Crunchy Dubia was not the only bag idea I left behind. Due to uncertainties surrounding future tariffs and the rise in prototyping cost there were several other ideas that got left behind. The fried chicken leg, whole turkey, cooked shrimp, and grilled squid were all cut, along with a dino nugget one that I feel insane for not keeping, but I know I'd be hearing a lot about making all the other dinos and that would've consumed the whole campaign.

Do any of these stand out to you?
Let me know! There's always a chance I could fund something out of pocket in the future, and I'm not completely adverse to adding another design or two. I'm going to attach a poll since I'm super curious to know your opinions!

There were several other designs that I don't even have the sketches for still, but that's because I found them pretty lackluster. I think the only one I would consider reviving were the milky bone-ish Inspired mini bag and Filet Mignon mini bag, but there's already one kind of steak on the docket and the other relies on a trademarked term to be recognizably identified as a treat and not an off-color bone, so I'm not too sure. Bacon wrapped filet mignon where the bacon unwraps to be a tiny purse handle maybe? Dunno!

Other stuff I thought of and didn't take very far this time around:
  • meatloaf (too boring)
  • tattered zebra ribcage (possibly too gory and upsetting to encourage folks to carry around in public spaces)
  • boiled octopus (grilled squid was cuter)
  • octopus style hotdogs (squid won again)
  • boiled egg (fried egg is cuter)
  •  several kinds of roadkill (when I found out another plush maker already had 2 of the 5 species I'd sketched as roadkill plush I ditched the idea.)

More stuff is on the way!

Premium Cut Design Voting Begins!
about 1 month ago – Sun, Jan 12, 2025 at 01:34:26 PM

Hello previous backers and other folks interested in my projects! It is October from the past since I'm writing this way before it will post! How are you? I have covid and am doing absolutely awful, but it sure is giving me time stuck in bed to pick at setting up my upcoming campaign: Carrion Baggage! I'm very in character for it and everything since I feel like a carcass. Anyway, I'm here with great news:

The poll for voting for a favorite Premium Cut design is open!

Premium Cuts are full sized plush bags and I would love some community help to prioritize which designs to go for first. Pick whichever design you like the most! Whichever design has the most votes will be the first one unlocked, the second most the second unlocked, and so on. There is the chance for all 4 bags too!

Introducing the Premium Cuts!

First up is Bear Chow, a limp chunk of spawning color sockeye salmon! The zipper would go around the meaty end, and the interior is a salmon color to match the flesh. The salmon's fin design is from our popular dead sockeye salmon sticker!

Then we have Mako Chow, a slab of yellowfin tuna that sticks out more stiffly like many photos of frozen tunas you may have seen. This would have the same zipper placement as Bear Chow with a bright red interior to match the outer flesh.

Next is Alley Chow, a trash animal buffet! This would have a banana peel shoulder cushion and would be mostly a shimmering/metallic fabric. The interior would have a puddle of ooze with a fish skeleton, and the zipper would of course go around the lid. It's not meat, but it fits the theme in a fun way.

And finally we have Royal Chow, a suckling boar fit for the table of a king. Because this is a complex design that would be made with longer pile materials it would not be as large as the 2-Bone meat bags, but still much larger than a mini bag. The interior would be a fleshy pink to match the nose.

All these bags would be based on a measurement of around 28 inches, but the interior space would still vary just based on the shape. Alley Chow would likely end up being the most space, and Royal Chow would probably be the smallest. Bear Chow will probably fit larger items than Mako Chow but it won't have the same volume. I made these based on a bunch of conceptual shots in the dark I was taking during a drawing session (except for Mako Chow, that one I got all excited to make while I was in the process of drafting Bear Chow) I completely ditched the idea of the Crunchy Dubia for it. Sorry Crunchy Dubia, and sorry to any of you insectivores out there. :( But if you still like Crunchy Dubia or want to see even more designs don't miss tomorrow's update!

I'm going to be sharing all sorts of behind the scene stuff while we approach our launch! I'm really looking forward to this upcoming project.

Also, in case you didn't know, Carrion Baggage is running as part of Pintopia 2025, and our partner campaign is by the skilled animator grind3h! They're going to be offering some ADORABLE dragon pins! If you back both of our campaigns freebies await you, so make sure to keep your fingers on the pulse and sign up for project alerts! You can sign up for my campaign here and for grind3h's here!

Anyway, I'm gonna go back to fading in and out of useful consciousness while sweating my guts out between doses of dayquil. See you in the future when this finally publishes!
